I recently read in the Waterloo Region Reecord that following the Saudi bombing of Yemen the International Committee of the Red Cross was preparing (scrambling) to airlift supplies to Yemen in order to help hospitals struggling with heavy casualties in Aden. I was struck by this amazing situation as Yemen is not exactly a friend of the West and is being supplied with aid from a western charitable organization.
In the same paper on the same day I read about the trial of Tsarnaev and Tamerlan the two brothers who set off two pressure cooker bombs at the Boston Marathon to bring terror to America.
There were other references to Al Shabab storming Garissa University in Kenya, Boko Haram kidnapping 200 school girls in Nigeria and the Taliban slaugtering 132 school children in Pakistan. In every case Western governments and organizations inserted themselves and made attempts to solve the problem or eleviate the suffering in some way.
While living in Kuwait I became aware that the Kuwaitie government gave a nominal donation to Haiti following the destructive earthquake there. However, I am not aware of any Arab/Muslim organizations giving to non-Muslim causes in cases of crisis, emergency, revolutiom, war as in the examples above.
I am appealing to the community at large to educate me on this subject as at the moment I can not explain why the giving seems to be in one direction.
