Who Is to Blame
There will be no dark clouds
Or lightning flashing
Its comes slowly
So slow, few people see it.
Know it or feel it
Like an evening fog that creeps
and buries the landscape
The usual reference points disappear
We seek direction
We ask why, who let this happen.
First came the allure of promises
The spectre of fears
The prospects of annihilation,
but we were too slow
To see that it also applied to us
The warehouses for the deportees
were universal
It helped solve the dissent
It quelled the demonstrations
The troops in the streets brought
the peace you sought until
There was no need to vote
Because you had anointed your king
Yet still quietly you asked,
Who let this happen?
Who is to blame?
